Oh my ...

Been a super crazy week. But I promised to post some pictures of the recent treasure hunt finds.... here goes...

Ok I know what your thinking... There are two of these... I swear the idea in my head looks alot better than they do here....as soon as I finish the other pieces that go to it I'll do an entire post.

Ok this dresser has been a complete nightmare. Whoever painted it before did a horrible job. And it has been quite the adventure trying to sand it. Have I ever mentioned how much I HATE high gloss paint.

So the same day that I bought that dresser we saw the thrift store throwing out this desk. I almost died. And the guy running the front loader must have seen the look of horror on my face cause he asked if I wanted it. I almost fell out of the truck in my haste to get to it. It's in way better shape then the dresser and it was FREE.

I think I may have a desk fetish. I have six in my house now. Um... yeah... but this one is going to be used as an end table... totally needs to be sanded and refinished (it is on the list ...did I mention that there are like 25 projects on my list.)

This fire grate was found at a local antique shop... There is at least 20 years of paint on it.. not sure if I'm going to strip it and repaint it or just leave it as it is..
Isn't this a neat old tool box.... I'm using it to hold our remotes .... lol...I love it.

These will end up being magnet boards.

And this is getting painted and turning into a craft notions storage.... super excited about it.

There are more treasures but my little one is having a melt down.

Yard Crash

It's early and I should be sleeping (since the hubs has gone to work and both of the kids are peacefully sleeping at the same time, which is a miracle.) But I'm too excited. Have you ever seen the TV show YARD CRASHERS?

We have lived in our house for almost two years and have been unable to manage getting started on our rather large back yard (i.e. if we have time we don't have the money and vice versa). It is quite the jungle back there. Some of the guys from our church have decided that we are this summer's service project and they are coming to clean and level it out today. I can hardly contain myself.

I really must give a shout out to our ward, we live in one of the coolest neighborhoods/wards I have ever lived in. They are genuinely concerned about everyone and go out of their way to make sure everyone is taken care of. If it hadn't been for them there is a good possibility we would have been in a really horrible situation (due to a previous conversation with the hubs I'm limited on what I can say.)

Anywho.... in about an hour and half I'll have 18 guys in my back yard just tearing it up... even though they aren't putting in sprinklers or grass I feel like we have won a spot on Yard Crashers.

I'll post pictures soon.

I know I know

OK I know I have been totally slacking... the blogging thing is supposed to be everyday. Well, give a momma a break. I'm in the middle of sleep training my baby boy. And frankly, well I'm the one who needs sleep training. And after all the title to my blog is domestic ADD. LOL

I'm a little overwhelmed with all the fabulous ideas running around in my head (it has actually caused me to lose sleep, and its entirely possible that it may be giving me a few gray hairs). But I'll post some pictures of recent found treasures sometime tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll be finishing the individual projects soon, because the hubs came home this evening and politely informed me that until some of the projects get finished there will be no more buying or hunting for treasures. GASP! The best part is my 3yr old daughter replies,"But it makes mommy happy!" And proceeds to storm off to her room to pout about the fact that mommy has been put on restriction. If you only knew some of the things she says. She drives me crazy (love her to death), she is too smart for her own good. One of these days I'll have to write some more blog posts about her. She is a regular comedian without even trying.

I did inform the hubs however that there is some small shopping needed to complete at least two of the bigger projects..the other 8 projects I have everything for I just can't seem to get motivated.

For the record... the 8 projects are only the ones that need to be painted. I have about 10 that need sewing completed, or pictures picked up.

And I told him that there is at least one more treasure hunt (that's what we call thrift shopping) planned for next week with my amazing momma.

But for now... I'm going to finish the load of laundry that I started folding two hours ago.... aaaahhhh ADD what are you going to do?

Spray paint crazy

I'm really not sure who to give credit to on these but I have been just a little spray paint crazy. My husband thinks I'm insane. Here are just a few of the things I've recently spray painted.

I found this cute metal bread box at the DI for $2 (local thrift store...which is another new obsession stalking the DI). But didn't want just plain metal (it had this weird pink tinge to it). And after sanding it the hubs apparently thought I wanted him to paint it. So after his experience with it, there was much more sanding needed. But I love the way it came out minus the sanding.

Before

After (i love love the color)

Then there is this little tray that I picked up for $1 in a different trip to the DI. not as happy about the way this one turned out but I love the color. I may have to experiment with the final finish (antique it ? or maybe high gloss...hmmmmm).
Before

After (all the cute containers on the tray also came from the DI or other treasure hunting trips, the roses came from the bushes in front of my house)

I also picked up two mirrors for less than $10 (that's right two large mirrors for less than $10 combined) but they aren't finished. Looking forward to getting them done and posted.

This blogging thing is kinda fun even when you have no followers.

Getting Started

This is my first post so I'll just kinda explain my train of thought is if can. I recently became OBSESSED with searching out tutorials and blogs on making (sewing, painting, building) things. And after several projects my husband says why don't you blog about it. Um ok, I'm not sure when he thinks I'll have time for it but it's worth a try. I'm new at the blogging thing so I apologize ahead of time if I don't link to the right site or give the right credit to someone.

Uh Oh the baby is up... I'll be back again later.
